First time have had to abandone a paddle today. See off I good flat sea conditions, after checking the local app which said flat sea and 5mph winds. Paddled for 2.25 miles, turned around to come back and the wind picked up and the sea was a bit rougher. Was like paddling in treacle. We got to 3.8 miles by hugging the shore but then came up to some fishermen, so rather than go out around them in the rough sea, we got out delfated the boards and walked the last .76 miles back to the cars. Was still a good paddle but I think we will feel it in our arms tomorrow 😂 |

Oooh! Nice. Having borrowed SUPs for a weekend in Achmelvich I have decided against getting one. It was a lot of fun and I was surprisingly good on it but I have enough toys and I’m more likely to kayak or swim I think. Definitely worth doing some training to get the most from it as I’m sure a bit of technique would have made a big difference.

Had a lovely time with some fetchies at the weekend and we had a lesson with a paddleboard instructor. It was great fun and made me go for a new, wider one.

I so need to try SUP. I sold my kayak as I can't carry it on my own or get it on the car.

The right board probably makes a huge difference doesn’t it. I wonder how many beginners are put off by a board that’s too narrow and not stable enough. |
