Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Hi Totriornottotri. I also signed up to myfitnesspal. Since I have a withings wifi scale and garmin connect, they all tie up nicely together so can track input and output pretty clearly. My daily goal is 1500 cals but I'm averaging a fair bit under that net of exercise: about 10 hours/week of running and cycling at the moment.

azx That is darn impressive well done and no extreme calories like 800 !!It would be interesting how tall peeps are as well.Your BMI is where mine is when you started so hope for me yet.
Do you recommend those scales? I have Tanita ones but not smart scales.

Cheers everyone. I love the withings scale I must admit. It can auto-sync with a bunch of other sites so barely have to do anything except look at graphs. Since I'm a bit of a data addict, I log weight and body fat% in a spreadsheet too so I can do my own analysis.
As to my height, I'm short, 170cm (sorry, I'm metric only).

One of the auto-sync sites I use is trendweight which gives lots of nice stats, though lags a bit since it uses a trailing average. Here's my link:
trendweight.com (updates every day).

thanks for that site-link azx, I've plotted my weight on here since forever, but that site is great.

I linked it to my old Fitbit account, which must be still running in the background, and is still linking into my scales (I have the Qardio ones) it tells me I need to cut my daily cals by an extra 160 to hit 1lb a week loss, which looking at my myfitness pal account is less than the average amount over plan that I tend to be.

Fenners - use myfitnesspal for a week or so to log what you eat and drink normally to see where you can make easy changes to start with. Big gains are not always where you assume they will be - unless you eat a packet of biscuits for supper each night ;)

I normally CNBA with logging but knew I needed to for me to lose the weight.

178cm.

Very similar approach to calories and exercise burn. Nice to see I’ve done something right!

The mornings are fun because I am ‘fasted’ it becomes a game to not eat until lunch!

Having 1500 cal (plus 400? Of 800 exercise) means you can eat a fair bit for lunch and dinner.

Non-alcoholic beer is low calorie. Snacks are tricky to avoid calories dense, non filling food. I’ve had vegan ice cream the last 2 nights!

When do you all run if you don't eat breakfast?
I can manage up to an hour or so of easy running on an empty stomach, but if I want to do a long run or something hard I really need to eat first.
However if my last cals in the evening are ~9 pm and I eat at 10 and run at 11 I've still "fasted" 13 hours - and I think that does help.
