Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

would love to do 4.15 elbee.

The original plan (well a couple of months ago) was 9.30/mile when I am running and in my stride. That brings me out at 4.10. However, the first few miles will be slow, I will prob have to pee once or twice, am hoping to see OH 3 times so will have a few words with him, then there is fetchpoint. So when I factor in those things that brings me out at around 4.15 ON A GOOD DAY.

Another good run there lums, looks like you need to work harder though to get your HR up to 85%.!!!!!! (sticks tongue)

hello all - I ran Bungay Full Mara yesterday and i was looking forward to seeing how my HR training was coming long especially as about 3 weeks ago i changed it to WHR%, my previous PB for a full mara was 4hrs 24mins, yesterday i got a new PB with a time of 3hrs 49mins, I put that success down to HR training especially during the final very painful last 4 miles when i could'nt up the pace at all so I concentrated on my WHR and pushing it up a little and it seemed to work

HR training really rocks and it works, i'm now back in training for Edinburgh mara next month

Hellen and Pammie - both added as buddies, feel free to analyse my training, I'm gonna take a few days off and let my thighs recover a little

Pammie - I feel great today thighs are a little sore but nothing major, I just have to be careful coming downstairs lol

Helen - I was surprised at my WHR during Bungay and its what I concentrated on in the final 4 miles which hurt me a lot and without the WHR method I would have struggled as trying to up the pace wasn't working BUT I was in control of my HR (hope that makes sense)

Yes I do think I can PB during Edinburgh and I will be going for it as its supposed to be a flat route, Bungay is 2 laps and 8 hills in total with plenty of undulations throughout the route

HR training got me through and beyond my targets, it'll do the same during Edinburgh Marathon

Everything you need to know about training with a heart rate monitor. Remember the motto "I can maintain a fast pace over the race distance because I am an Endurance God". Mind the trap door....

Gobi lurks here, but for his advice you must first speak his name. Ask and you shall receive.

A quote:

"The area between the top of the aerobic threshold and anaerobic threshold is somewhat of a no mans land of fitness. It is a mix of aerobic and anaerobic states. For the amount of effort the athlete puts forth, not a whole lot of fitness is produced. It does not train the aerobic or anaerobic energy system to a high degree. This area does have its place in training; it is just not in base season. Unfortunately this area is where I find a lot of athletes spending the majority of their seasons, which retards aerobic development. The athletes heart rate shoots up to this zone with little power or speed being produced when it gets there." Matt Russ, US International Coach
