Just need to keep it going now Boab. My 2017 training has generally consisted of one good week followed by 3 gradually diminishing weeks, then nothing for a bit, rinse, repeat.
Been inspired recently by seeing some great running from some folk I know, which is giving me a bit of hunger for it again. I need to decide whether I'm going to do 2x Sub LT this week, or head to Lasswade at the weekend for the XC. Because Lasswade is a Sunday it throws things a little as I'd miss a sub Lt and have to rejig everything to get the long run done. I might just stick to the basics this week.
I'll be doing the short course champs next week though. On my doorstep

Had an odd one this morning. Really struggled to get HR up to 80%. Felt like my legs were working quite hard, pace was good though, but cardio was hardly stressed at all. Ended up with a 78.4% average for 7:01/mile. Happy enough after the fact, but I think it could have been sub 7s average if I'd lifted it a bit to really get my HR up.
It's nice clocking the miles away as well. 19 already this week. MLR tomorrow. My plan looks like 75+by Sunday. I've got new trainers arriving tomorrow, but won't get them till after my run. Probably better to test them on Thursday on a shorter recovery anyway.

Still going, lol. Not much point talking to myself but here goes anyway. Was pleased to see my sub LT pace match up with sub 3 mara pace this week. Was one of those bumps in improvement that comes from nowhere. Consolidated today with a 75% 12 miler clocking 7:20/mile.
Couple of easy days now and replacing 2nd LT session of the week with the national short course XC on Sat.

I'm reading, if that's any comfort, Davie. I just don't have much to post as I'm still building up to 50mpw and only one sub-LT to my name so far.
I am planning to alternate one of the sub-LT with a Lydiard hill session when I am in full training.

I'm the same as Puzzler - I'll start posting once I hit 50 mpw (which will be a first this year). Good to read your progress in the meantime, Davie.

Good stuff DavieC, I'm going to try Hadd later in the year if my knee stops hurting.
Very encouraging results so far for you, I know from previous pages you respond really well to this training!

I am guilty of being an interested reader but not very good at interacting! I do wonder though, if Hadd and Maff benefit runners who are faster to begin with, rather than slow plodders like me. I have had some success, but nothing spectacular. Or maybe I just haven't stuck at it for long enough or been through enough cycles
