Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

The maxes come from the sprint at the end, I usually find one.

In that specific race my average was 185. I'd have to look back at the graph (was off my Timex so on training peaks). I'll post the 800m graph in a bit.

I have to say, I was sceptical about this at the time but was convinced it was possible given I was blown. It was my first ever 800m race and is the worst I've felt in the home straight ever!

Having another over-use incurred rest day today. This time concrete quads. As usual mind and heart say I`m getting better and better endurance, while the body keeps saying hang about mister, we`re not ready for that mileage increase just yet... 5x10 miles in 5 days just felt so good... I`ll find out if 44 hrs was enough time to recover tomorrow I guess...Ron Daws writes about sticking `a tank engine into a Pinto` (circa 1977 `The Self-Made Olympian`) - at least I`m beginning to think like a tank again, rather than believing I`ve always been a Pinto.

Ah, just looked up the 70s classic car: a few subsequent design problems by the look of it: `gas tank too close to the rear of the car and yes, they could explode if a spark was created during impact`, recalls, and plastic shields inserted between various parts - maybe I never want to be a Pinto anyway.

Think I got a Fiat Punto and a Ford Pinto confused originally - Ron Daws is from the US apparently (ok got that now). More importantly, did make it to 60 miles this week with a last 76% 10 miler - though any downhill is unwelcome.

Wondering about a Boston Marathon entry (UK) rather than an MK one? Any ideas?

Never done Boston (I think it was new last year) however my one and only marathon (currently) was MK. I cannot compare it to others however was very well organised, great finish inside stadium, pretty decent support on the way round (some sections were empty) but it seems to be growing year on year and has decent feedback.

Cheers, Daz- MK not as hilly as I thought either (500ft or so) - a third of Brighton`s, for instance. Boston`s pancake flat probably comes with extra exposure to the unimpeded winds - either one (on the right day) would probably hit the spot. Time for another mince pie...Merry Xmas!

No worries Gluco

Could be a one off but see some progress today!

As those that have been here, I am doing all my running at 8:45 pace (5k PB + 3mm) as was shuffling at 75%.

I always had my max at 197 and went with that (I have never done a full on test)

I have been at it since Nov 14th and not run any quicker than that for 6 weeks. Hadnt seen much change and all runs were still around 80-82% range but todays 45 mins popped in at 155 and 78.7%! So I am getting there. Cant wait until 8:45 is under 75%!!!

Greg McMillan endorsing sub-LT workouts (`Slow the Tempo`) via Keith Livingstone`s version of Arthur Lydiard training ideas. Still topical as far as I`m concerned (excuse the provenance), even if I`ve not managed to do full-on Sub LTs (as in MP) yet - it will be soon I hope. runnersworld.com

Greg McMillan has a steady state run on his pace calculator and I'll have to check as haven't looked at it in a while but I thought that corresponded with sub LT pace.
