Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

6 miles completed. 74.6% and a pace of 10:46 😀

I would ask my 87 year old grandmother out for a run, but would hate to hold her back!!!

This is certainly interesting!

obviously patzer talk, but greatly enjoyed the HADD links. Are there any others you`d suggest as well? even ordered my very own HRM, like back in the day - but with more venom... or something

When that flexible strap arrives, I hope it decides to stay put. Might consider braces.

Daz L- Your grandmother sounds like a piece of work. I`m also expecting a FT nightmare of slowness upon my ass....But(t) see the long term as one or two seasons probably, then the big time. Weird that my 7 miles a day @ 7-40 ish is an all wrong M-pace (ish), and that it`s the slower fibres I aint vaguely trained yet... but if all the fibres work for you, endgame: better when FT allowed, I guess.

Gluco - It has been a bizarre 2 days running for me. 2 weeks ago today I done a nice 8 miler at what felt comfortable pace and was 7:15 per mile avg, fast forward two weeks and Im keeping the HR low and I am getting excited when I dip under a mile at 11 mins!

Long term game is the plan!!!

Have to say given your times in 2015, unless you've lost form, I'm surprised you have to run so slow for 75%

SPR - I wouldnt say i have lost that much form since 2015. I run a 10k off road race only 8 weeks ago in 38:55 (even got 1st V40 and 6th overall out of 400)

I am not in sub 18 shape for 5k but hugely suprised myself at the pace.

I always knew HR went up fairly quickly when running but never knew how slow I would have to run to keep low!

Your predicament reminded of a Hadd post a long while back and I was able to find it.

SPR - that's a fantastic link. I ran 6 miles in an hour recently and I hated it so I could keep my HR sub 70% max. I will no longer run much above 9m/m and probably more like 8:45's for easy runs.

Bit of a relief tbh :-)

We did briefly discuss this on here yesterday.

SPR - That's a great link (Thanks) and it sayslink to 5k PR. My 5k pace is 5:45 so that would mean 8:45 per mile. So I would keep doing that until the HR comes down.

Ptb - What is your view on this as we touched on this yesterday?
