Thanks Baz.
Have you done the 2400m test?

no, never tried that
I am no expert but that seems a bit counter intuitive to the plan. Those reports that I have read on here suggested inconsistent results and I prefer to just monitor my stats over a period of time and look for trends. If I wanted a test I would probably do a parkrun, but again am not doing so and giving the approach my full attention

Yes Baz I lived there in the 90s and did my 10M pb there in 92. Also was runner up in a thing called the Fairlands XC trophy - a park I trained in virtually every day. I think in those days there were two clubs, Stevenage and North Herts AC and the newer Fairlands Valley Spartans who were more into road running. I stuck with my London club though (Highgate).

Both Stevenage and North Herts and Fairlands Valley Spartans are still going. I turned out for SNH in the midweek league as my club doesn't enter.
They have a parkrun now in Fairlands and often my route takes me through there!

Potatoes ! Don't keep digging them up !
Beats per mile monitoring is more informative and less stressful.

Hills of Death (HOD)
I've never heard of Stevenage Striders 😲. Done the midweek Stevenage 10k I think ironically organised by NHRR

Only a small but growing club HOD.
Yes I see that a couple of years ago that NHRR had their MWL fixture in Stevenage . Not sure they do every year (I could be wrong!)

I do think that the Hadd test and the Maf test are throwbacks to the days of stopwatches. We are statted up to the eyeballs on Fetch and strava so you get a constant feedback on your training progress, particularly if you run a regular route or routes. Parkruns are ideal for checking too
