I stayed at one of the MacDonald hotels last year - a similar price but I don't think it was that one. Okay, a bit basic but was good enough for what I paid. To be honest, the fact that it had hot water and a bed was quite enough by that point! My biggest dilemma was deciding which one to use first....

Sleep in the bath? Or a hot water bed? I thought the Academy one was the more basic one. It might be very basic indeed. However, I just want warm, dry and quiet so I can crash if I need to.
Thanks Duchess. Oh, also, is there any party on the Sunday afternoon/evening or is everyone so bushed by that point that they all just pack up and go? G

I practically fell asleep standing up in the shower
There is a barbecue on site in the early Sunday afternoon after prize giving. And last year a bunch of us who were staying in Aviemore on Sunday night met up for a meal in the evening. We were all quite quiet...although a couple did manage to stay in a pub til closing time.

I am soooooo excited to be doing this! I'm sure the excitement will be short-lived after doing my first marathon in two weeks time, but it'll pass

Me too. I had a bit of a panic a couple of days ago and emailed loads of qs to info@runyabam.com, but Bill and Mike have got a great way of not letting you get stressed with a load of questions. Simply by not answering your email! They did have a wee ultra to organise this weekend, of course! G

My question was what is best way to set up when un-supported? Could I have my car close to start finish, so I could grab food/change of clothes out of back? If I have to set up a full gazebo and table etc. and lug it to the start finish I will, but I was hoping to just open the car boot and hoover food up from it. But I guess there isn't space for that?! If you're comfortable parking your car on the field then you can use that as your "support point" or you can park it just to unload a table etc, then park it on the road whilst the race is on (you can't take vehicles on and off the field while the race is ongoing for safety). There's a good few hundred yards of route on the hayfield so no need to be exactly on the finish - best pitches go early though!

I have zero support. Just a tent (if boyfriend will let me borrow it), a sleeping bag, and a cooler!

The year I did it I had a plastic box with my food it it sitting next to the track. When i run out of water other crews were happy to go get me more. Everyone is happy to help. There us also Georges Trent that will look after people if they ask
