Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I think the planning point is a very good one. I have found Mr Jambomo and I to be most successful when we have been organized and have healthy things in the house we can eat.

One of the things I have been doing is cooking big batches of food from scratch and then freezing them in 2 people sized portions so that during the week when we are busy, I can just take one out and use it rather than the hassle of cooking from scratch all the time. I usually make enough (different meals though!) for the month.

Tonight we are having homemade Paprika Chicken with rice which I made over Christmas :)

Helegant - admittedly, my most recent experience of a slimming club is over 30 years ago - so maybe they have changed! I certainly hope so.

Planning is a big factor too. Exercise control at the supermarket - don't buy things you know are not going to be helpful to you. Can be difficult if you share your home with people who aren't on the same plan. The way I cope with that is that if DH wants biscuits and sweets, he buys them himself, and I avert my gaze.

I do occasional batch cooking too, but more often cook a quantity that will feed 4, and the other half goes in either the fridge for tomorrow, or freezer for "sometime". When I eat at church, or other people's house, I am getting more assertive about specifying my requirements and/or taking my own.

I think it helps that I can talk about health issues, not just losing weight because I want to look better - as some people perceive it, anyway. People are more accepting of special dietary requirements if they are health-related.

Just updated the spreadsheet - most of my weight gain was due to ''nibbles' after being unemployed rather than festive splurge...! :(

The good news is that although my Ne'erday parkrun was my slowest ever, last night's club run was a minute faster than any of December's...

Just back from SW and half a pound on so will be happy with that this week.

I have been a yoyo dieter for more years than I care to remember and have done the usual WW, Scottish Slimmers and SW, who knows what I would have been like without them, maybe like someone said (sorry only glimpsed just now) I may have plateued or maybe 10 stone heavier. I have been fortunate in as much the most I ever had to lose was a stone and a half but even then that can be a struggle. What I would say is I have stayed a target member longer with SW than any of the other and I think that is more to do with the less weighing and measuring you do on this one as its easy to be complacent if you think you know portion size.

So back to club tonight and 1lb gain. I think the people in the group thought I'd had a massive loss by my celebration dance but I was so expecting a big gain that 1lb on was a brilliant result for me :-)

Like Helegant our leader went over the basics of the plan as there were a lot of noobs and rejoins. Maybe a nationwide directive? I didn't mind tbh as there were a lot of useful reminders about how easy it is to "forget" that you've eaten something or to guesstimate weights or (for us perennial member) assuming that something that used to be syn free still is syn free!

I am reporting a 4lb loss since my pre-Christmas starting weight. Feel a bit of a cheat since that was obviously the lurgy bug rather than any serious attempt at weightloss.
