Oscar's Everyone Day
Sunday 22nd June 2025In 2021 Oscar the Grouch proposed one day each year where "we unite as a community and EVERYONE records an activity of some sort - a dog walk, a run, a swim, a ride, ski if you want...".
Sadly we lost Oscar in March 2024, so now we dedicate Everyone Day to him. Thank you for the inspiration you gave us Oscar.

80 minutes into our climbing session. Not too gruesome so far. And I haven't slapped any of the earnest father/shrill child units that seem incapable of existing in a space that isn't filled by their own voices.

Today we checked out three wise monkeys in Fort William. Absolutely loved it. They have a really good mix of routes for all abilities. Sadly after 8 hours paddling yesterday I didn’t have much in the tank so we only managed an hour top roping and half hour bouldering. We are determined to get back soon.

Here’s a thing. Possibly even A Thing. Couldn’t make up my mind whether to post it here or O50, but here seemed quietest. high50.com |

Just back from the climbing wall. QP had his first coaching session. The coach works with the Scotland youth squad so he must be fairly good. I am hoping my climbing will improve as well. I was bouldering but loitered at points throughout the session to listen in. Straight arms, use your whole foot, close to the wall is what I have learned so far.

OK I'm thinking about giving this a go in 2019. Crystal Palace has a climbing wall and their next beginners' session is on 18th February and costs a tenner for 2 hrs. Seems reasonable to me. So, I'm 52 with osteoporosis and want to increase my upper and core body strength. Is this a good idea? |

I can't comment in relation to osteoporosis but I find climbing is one of the best full body work outs. Great for core, balance, upper body and everything in between. It exercises the mind as well as there is a lot of problem solving involved. Climbing walls are quite sociable as well and we've found a wee community through it.
