Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

No, there were 5 timeouters so just a 7 person group of actual games.

Lost 1.5-0.5 against my final opponent in the group - and it's looking like he'll top it assuming he wipes away the fourth place player. But I will finish the group in third I think. Not enough to qualify, but I am pleased with my efforts.

chess.com

Have signed up to another tournament:

chess.com

but it has no start date. Is it just a case of waiting until all the places fill up? Or is there some hidden start date that I'm missing?

Start date choice is actually an 'advanced option' when setting up a tournament. Also under 'advanced options' auto start when full is on by default.

I should have checked for some new year 960 tournaments but definitely not feeling a day per move!

I don't think there is any way you can finish third Fetch. Either second or first.

Start date seems a bit random for most competitions on chess.com. Some go as per advertised date, some when full, I think the organiser often just does what they want.

19.5 is a very creditable performance fetch, it looks like it won't quite be good enough to qualify but it's close!

I picked up most of those through timeouts, but the win against the 1571, and the draw against the 13XX player were very nice.

(My mistake, I thought 3rd place had enough matches left to overhaul me)

I'm almost certainly through now, still one remaining close game which I could potentially lose, but my closest rival looks like they'll be on 3 losses anyway. All my other games are going one way unless I walk into a mate in one again :-)
