We made our way over to Somiedo yesterday, which is a natural park in the mountains, and our quiet campsite is in the middle of it. Went out this morning and ran 4.5 miles up to a natural lake - Lago del Valle - which is apparently at 4500ft above sea level, and ran more or less the same way down. Mainly good trails, and the site is at roughly 3000ft, so some very hilly bits getting up to the lake. Running so far *up* to a lake, when it already seemed a long way up to get here on the drive up, seemed odd. Stunning up there - I love these type of runs where I feel I have the mountains to myself (except for the cows!). So about 9 miles in total, which took me about an hour to get up there, and less than 40mins to get back ![]() Pics don’t do it justice. |

Hello experts......... we have unexpectedly got tickets for Oasis at Murrayfield in August. Slap bang in the middle of £400 a night hotel prices! We have an option of accommodation in Dunfermline, but we also have an option of borrowing a van. Dunfermline doesn't seem to well linked by public transport later at night, so van seems a good option. Must be doable from Murrayfield, does anyone have any insight into Edinburgh. Don't need a site per se... just a quiet road? I wondered if we parked upon the Saturday afternoon, if take the tram from Edinburgh Park, and at night time wander down Cultins Road industrial estate. google maps seems to say some areas of no yellow lines. is this a terrible idea? |

All depends if yer comfortable with knowing anyone could be creeping about around yer van tbh. I’ve only parked once in that scenario and got woken early by a snack bar generator.

Try checking on Park4night or Search4sites. They will likely have areas to suggest and people will have reviewed them. Safety is usually a key concern, of course.

I’ll need to check if somewhere near me is on any of those one day. It’s too close to houses in my opinion. But it’s used by vans semi-regularly. Winds folk up to be honest. |
