Do Conservatives spend more money on their campaigns? Or is that not a factor in UK elections? G

From The Guardian ‘The polling evidence also suggests Salmond’s drive to get SNP voters to back Alba in regional votes has backfired; they are much more likely now to vote Green on the regional list.’ Best news in a while 😂

I just posted on Politics thread actually, that I'm back to Green for second (list) vote. (That is instead of SNP, was never going to be Alba, honest!) G

SNP hold a very safe seat but with a 6% swing towards conservatives
Its only one seat and one can hope thats a reflection of the rest of the results. I suspect it wont be though

Yeah, does look like SNP majorities have been chipped away a bit in a few constituency seats. Mind you, the Lib Dem hold of Orkney was also down. Maybe everyone's just flip flopping?!
That Milngavie seat that SNP majority was reduced in was a swing to Labour, but also a reduction in the Conservative vote. Speculation that it's tactical anti Independence or anti-SNP voting. Nothing wrong with that, btw.
I think it could be quite a strong anti-independence sentiment. We'll find out by tomorrow night! G

Its too early to draw any conclusions, I agree.
I live in hope that there is a message in the overall results about the feelings on independence and actually that applies both ways.
I am reading elsewhere that its nasty unionists voting tactically which is laughable really asit would be hailed as fantastic tactical voting between SNP/Green/Alba if the swings are the other way .

I'd go with intelligent tactical voting. A colleague of mine admitted to voting Tory as only challenger to SNP in his constituency. Said he felt dirty. So he should!

I do find it an awful position to be in and I have to decide whats the lesser of two evils.
If the election wasnt about giving Sturgeon a mandate then people might have been freed to vote as they would have prefered.

If we had an independent Scotland people could vote just based on policy and principles and get a government they wanted - Labour, Liberal, Green, Social Democratic or, yes, maybe even a few true, blue Tories in there!
There would be *no* SNP would be my prediction. SNP would dissolve and reform as some other title. Maybe just "The National Party" or maybe something completely new.

I agree with that G. Would be a good thing, my opinion.
