Missing one or even two pills in the middle of a pack isn't usually a problem, but if you miss the first or last ones and your break extends beyond 7 days, there's a risk that you'll ovulate.

New natural estrogen pill - made possible by a totally new Progesterone compnent that has no antiestrogenic actiity
so lower oral dose possible

Less hormoanl side effects (eg wate retention, mood, more libido, Better protection and creatyes worl peace)

Old technology and harder to use for other advantages like controlling periods.
Was on of the family of pills implicated in the pill scare of a few years ago - But now largely that was realised to be mostly poppycock
NHS wants more women using Long acting reversible contraception.
There is a new version of Implanon coming - in the bext month or so - Called nexplanon
and there is a new version of the Depo - a subcut version - so more reliable bleeding control and lower dose necessary
You may have already considered Vaginal rings etc - But I really CBA going back through the whole thread.

i like the depo - it suits me but having been overweight for so long and stuff, i worry about the longer term effects excessive hormones, coupled with the overweightness and what it may have done to my fertility! but i cant handle the agony every month! everything is so heavy... i end up dizzy, lightheaded, off work, and from end of period to beginning of next one, boobs are tender etc! generally suffer everyday of every month lol!
might wait on new depo - my friend has had kids, went on depo - has been off of it for 2 years and still cant concieve.... :S

I've always used the pill, from the age of 14, with 2 short breaks to have children. Fell pregnant as soon as i stopped taking the pill, no problem.
Once i started on Tegretol for my seizures i still used the pill, but because of my medication i had a lot of break through bleeding from my natural cycle and so my GP wasn't happy that the pill would be as effective as it should be. Hubby went for the snip to solve this as i had already done my bit for the population Just a year ago (prob not even that) i was advised the mirena coil for gynae reasons, but had an awful time with it. As soon as it was fitted i had dreadful stomach cramps, which they said may be for a few days, but after 8 days of severe pain (like early labour pains) i went back and had a scan to check the positioning. It was ideally positioned so they couldn't understand my pain and sent me home. Within 24 hours i was in so much pain i couldn't walk and i thought i was going into labour it was THAT bad. I began bleeding heavily and when i was taken into A&E they went to remove it, but found that my body had already rejected it by contracting my womb apparently! Bloody awful experience. At a later consultation with the gynae doctor he said it wasn't uncommon for the body to reject the mirena coil What i found outrageous was the reluctance for anybody to remove the bloody thing. My GP wouldn't do it, saying that they don't have a license to insert/remove mirena coil? and the out of hours GP said i needed to return to where i had it put in. This was 17 miles away in Norwich at the family planning clinic, which was closed for the bank hol weekend! So many telephone calls and an A&E visit was what it took!
So...what i'm trying to say is....um....well, i don't know!
