Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Well done Pesto.

Need to be careful there, rowers. I think it prob takes quite a lot out of you, so no more than 1 hard one per week? Anyone got any tips? A friends said 3 times per week, same as running, to see improvement over the weeks. May have a go after pump tonight. Supposed to be after an anaerobic session, not before? :-)G

Pesto, I do the opposite - splits of 2.05 in the first few minutes, then I die, spend the middle 5 minutes in a slump and recover in the final 5. Still haven't figured out how to 'pace' this properly...

ph - but you're extraordinary, and you do do some easy runs in between the races and maras and ultras. don't you? ;-)

I was only going to do 25 mins of easy rowing once a week until you lot brought out my competitive streak :-)

auburnette & pesto - if you warm up for 5-10 mins first it is easier to keep a steady pace.

Don't think I can do 2100m in 8 mins these days. Have pity on an old man. :-)

The best way to do the pacing for this is to go for a steady state aerobic pace, then sprint when you can see the finish line approaching (last minute or maybe 2), and expect to feel hideously sick with legs turned to jelly. If you go too fast you turn to jelly in the middle of the piece, and then you spend the rest of the time gasping for air and unable to get any power at all.
