I haven't rowed in ages because I hadn't managed to go to the gym last year more than about 10 times (!). So really I am back at beginners again. I have to say that picking up running again after 10 weeks manic cross training seems to have improved my pace at 70% WHR quite significantly so I am going to try to keep up with at least 1 session of rowing a week.

If you are wobbly, stay seated until your HR gets back to normal. And most people never row hard!

I've noticed that in the gym too. People seem to warm up on the rower rather than full on go for it...

My gym used to have a rowing competition board and I did row a bit then but it was only 2Ks and I did hold my age group record (small gym, no real competition) but that was over 10 years ago.
Like everything, rowing hard is hard!

I think a lot of people are not confident with rowing technique. There's a lot more you can do wrong on an erg so perhaps it puts people off?
