Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

It’ll be ok once they put up the stop signs on each lamppost.

There is. North East Lincolnshire council is producing one example of each ludicrous scheme for all cyclists round here to enjoy.

Street furniture in the middle of the (narrow) path seems very much the default.

I'm still hunting round for a more commuty bike.

Could someone run their eyes over this quickly and let me know what they think?

wiggle.co.uk

I'm after racks and mudguards, mainly, but would like hub gearing. I live 5 miles from work, would mainly travel on road, and there are no major gradients of which to speak.

The way I commute by bike one way and on foot the other sometimes requires me to leave a bike overnight at work, and if I leave the MTB there it's then not available if the boy wants to go for a bike ride.

if the original RRP is true, and not like a sports direct discounted price, then it looks lovely.

Will it feel like enough for you tho DeeGee?

Looks a bit Dutch and university campus-sy, and i see you more as sporty....

all of that has no bearing on the merits of the bike itself, as I know nowt about such things.....

About This Thread

Maintained by HappyG(rrr)
There is a nice thread about commuting to work by running, and there are loads of terrifying threads about bikes and cycling which are about carbon and grams of weight and lycra - not this one: how to dry your kit, how to carry/store your work clothes etc. and some bike specific stuff about best mudguards to minimize wet and dirt and maybe some stuff about cycle paths, safety, simple bike maintenance etc.

And if you declare yourself at the outset as:
A. Total bike head, train lots, do bike races/triathlons and the commute bit is just a way of getting extra miles in and is done at full bike training pace.
B. Bike for fitness (either with running as main sport or not) and like to do bike in lycra, at reasonable speed, certainly always shower necessary!

C. Bike is firstly a mode of transport, essential for the commute, sure a bit of fitness is good, but it's secondary. Safe, reliable and clean are the priorities.
