Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

For May, the one with errant hand,
Is choosing for our our little band.
She must now go and ruminate,
And then through Thread to us relate
The author who will set us free,
From lock-down's awful tyranny.
And let us intellectually roam,
More than 100 yards from home.
A foreign work might help us out,
But State's decree we cannot flout.
If mind-to-mind transfer were found,
Then too our grey-cells would be bound.
Banned from anything esoteric:
Wodehouse, P to Ambler, Eric,
Are virus free, but bar from choice:
Coelho, Levi, or James Joyce.
And as for Nausea - Jean-Paul Sartre,
That would be one you could not start.

Really good news re Hive! - I thought they were out for the duration. (And as for post-duration, who can say what life will be like then?)
Scribbler, I'm not sure about this. On the face of it it looks like Not My Cup of Tea. But I'll read a bit about it and make a decision then.

I read it ages ago and it's a lovely read. Can't remember if I've got a physical copy (and there is currently a mouse hiding from Hester in the spare room where a lot of my books are :-o ) so I might try Scribbler's idea of the audio version.

The Scribbler
It’s not compulsory to like it Columba :-) I did think it would be a different choice for the group. And it’s in nice distinct chapters, so it’s easy to read.

I don’t seem to have the brain capacity to enjoy any reading that’s complex or challenging at the moment.

I listened to the first chapter this evening. Apologies to anyone joining in the listen along as he’s reading the US version. But it shouldn’t make a big difference

I shall look forward to this. Thank Scribbler.
I have been tempted by Neil Gaiman, bought Neverwhere last year still unread.

So have got this on my kindle. Wouldn't normally.

Not normally my thing but will give it a go

Started Player of Games last night because my brain was too fried for GE. Like it so far.

I'm reading Zadie Smith's "White Teeth" atm (it's the copy that Serendippily kindly sent me 2 years ago(!) and which has finally reached TBR summit)
*really* enjoying it :-)

Daz, how far through are you? I loved the start of White Teeth, but then halfway through there was a change in focus and it lost me completely.
