Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

And going back to the previous discussion about the descent Seat Sandal it isn't anywhere as nice a descent as it used to be. The increasing level of of traffic on the BG/JNC route in recent years has chewed it up and eroded it quite badly in several places. Particularly when it's wet and the bracken is up (i.e. now) parts of it aren't very pleasant at all, especially when you are trying to preserve your legs for later. The attempt I was on 10 days ago were cursing it when they reached Dunmail.

Thanks FF - I've not been up HR, so wasn't aware of underfoot conditions.

DT - happy to support should you require it (and I'm fit enough to keep up with you!)

It's interesting to note that both the records set this summer that involve the HR/SM route choice (Beth's BG record and Kim's 24 hour record) were both set by people who have spent significant amounts of time looking at optimal lines and they both went to SM and then HR.

I wonder if some unusual person will try and one-up John Kelly next year and canoe over to Ireland from Scotland and finish off with whatever the Irish equivalent round is (is there one?).

I think he’s done the BG, I just don’t think the trackers registered the Moot Hall, unless he’s crawled back to Keswick.

I saw him go past the webcam just before 7am. He looked tired (unsurprisingly).

Looks like he dropped a few minutes in the dark over the rough stuff. Didn’t anyone tell him about the correct start times for CW attempts 😉
