Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I'm going to have to make fruit cake today.

Husband is still working his way through the Christmas cake.

Mr W's idea of a slice of cake varies between a sixth and a quarter, followed by another slightly smaller piece. Even Christmas cake doesnt last long here :-(

I have the opposite problem. OH has one or two slices of the cake then loses interest so I end up eating it all pig

I like making cake but I'm not that keen on eating it - with a few exceptions like parkin or carrot cake which aren't popular with husband or daughter so I don't make them. A good fruit cake like Lizzie's would be lovely with an afternoon cuppa though.

I made eatwell.co.nz again, with the same dairy free changes. This time we only had one banana left, so I used that and made up the rest with grated cooking apples.

It worked well, not as sweet, but just as moist. Maybe should have either peeled the apples (life's too short!) or grated it more finely as there were a few lumpy bits.

Today's lunch contains bread* made by mini Nico and banana bread made by Mrs Nico.

The sour dough starter is beginning to remind me of The Little Shop of Horrors, I'm hopeful that I might get to do a bit of baking with it myself at the weekend?

* basic white loaves, very neat from using loaf tins

Sod it, I'm going to make chocolate orange shortbread cookies and actually use the fancy mixer I bought months ago!
