Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

As do I now Gobi. However, I still believe that a HRM is very good as a training aid. For the beginner it helps them to build a really solid base before they add speed. (Train for distance the speed) and I still use it to make absolutely sure I'm doing a nice easy run whe I should be. I have found that what feels very easy sometimes can be harder on the body than you think for a variety of reasons. I'm a great believer in good, effective recovery runs. :-)

I have used a mixure of pace based and effort based training using HRM to great effect over the last couple of years.

I wear my HR for 90% of my runs but only actually use it during recovery or base work.

I do like to see the stats though :¬)

Yep me too, I like stats. :-)

I only stopped wearing the strap when it started giving me a rash due to the elastic. And yes, I use it for the same reasons as Gobi. :-)

True, True - I love stats too...However I might *controversal* try and run at least one of my races this month without a watch...

I do this with a lot of short races now Boo. It helps me to get over the paralysis through analysis I was locked into. It does you good every now and then. I will return to Garmin wearing after a few more 5 milers with the club and 10ks. I want to get that racing by feel too nailed so I can just use the watch for stats and not rely on it. Not that I'm suggesting anyone els but me relies on the Garmin too much :-)
