OCTOBER ROUND-UP
It's November. It's dark all sodding day. We can't go wherever we want and do whatever we want, but a dinosaur can dream that her threadmates are lovely Canary Islands and hope the formatting doesn't come out as a load of scribble.
125% and above: Tenerife is the largest and most-populated of the eight Canary Islands. It is also the most-populated island of Spain, with a land area of 2,034 square kilometres (785.48 sq mi), and 917,841 inhabitants at the start of 2019. The capital city is Santa Cruz de Tenerife and its most famous landmark is Mount Tiede, the highest mountain in Spain at 3,718m. It's OK, there's a cable car. 110%-125%: Gran Canaria is the third largest and second most populated of the Canary Islands, with a land area of 1,560km and a population of 851,231 at the start of 2019. The capital city, Las Palmas, was a popular cruise ship destination back when ships could cruise. The island is circular and rises from sea level to 1,956 metres at Morro de la Agujereada, although the nearby Pico de las Nieves has traditionally been considered the island's tallest peak and has real canaries on it. I know, I've seen them.

90%-110%: Lanzarote is the northernmost and easternmost of the Canary Islands and the fourth-largest of the islands in the archipelago, covering 846 square kilometres. With 152,289 inhabitants at the start of 2019, it is the third most populous Canary Island. The capital city is Arrecife. Lanzarote is characterised by a black craggy landscape and by clusters of low-rise white buildings. Located in the centre-west of the island is Timanfaya National Park, an interesting volcanic attraction. King Cesar Manrique and Queen Aloe Vera live in a palace called Club la Santa on the north west of the island which some Fetchies regard as a pilgrimage destination.

75%-90%: Fuerteventura which, at 1,660 square kilometres, is the second largest of the Canary Islands after Tenerife. At the start of 2019, Fuerteventura had 116,886 inhabitants. Its capital is Puerto del Rosario. Fuerteventura is known for long white sandy beaches, ferocious winds, and the Half Marathon des Sables. Yes, that is an actual thing.

Under 75%: La Palma is the most north-westerly and the fifth largest of the Canary Islands, with an area of 708 square kilometres. The total population at the start of 2019 was 82,671. The capital is Santa Cruz de La Palma. A walking destination among Those In The Know, its highest mountain is the Roque de los Muchachos, which at 2,423 metres is second in the Canaries only to the peaks of the Teide massif on Tenerife. Better not hang around if you want to get to the top before the end of the year.

Thanks for a great round up V’rap! Having never been to the Canary Islands, it was very interesting to learn a bit more about the different islands.

Brilliant round up, thanks V'rap
I haven't looked at my mileage for ages and it's inspired me to give my plantar fasciitis a kick up the arse and go out for a jog / walk today!

Thanks for the round up, Vrap. Mr Ness and I were on Gran Canaria last Christmas. We enjoyed it so much we booked for this Christmas just after we got back. Not sure if the holiday will actually go ahead now.

The round up gives me a target to aim for even if I don’t have a chance of getting to the real island though! 😜

Thanks, Vrap, another great round-up, informative and educational. Have also never been to the Canaries, but would love to do so.
Do feel Lanzarote's 'black, craggy landscape' probably matches my current non-running-due-to-dodgy-knees mood. Come on, knees, get with it!

Thanks V'rap - great roundup! Lanzarote is not my favourite but it does have some nice bits once you're away from the tourist hell holes
