abdou Ran a good 5k so might be on for PB - depends on the hills of which RachE and Heavyweight speak and I have no idea *UPDATE* I will be wearing the already mythical Fetch Mojo Vest! Banzai! Bet now! Betbetbetbetbetbetbet! **RACE UPDATE** Result! PB by minute and a half - pretty pleased considering the heat and the hills (6-7k - CFM). Came about 10th or 11th overall. Also can take all the credit as sadly the Mojo Vest didn't arrive in time, but maybe when I go for sub-40... Cheers to all who bet - glad it came off! Nice to meet Rach E briefly - sorry to miss the rest of you - I nipped off for a shower and when I came back everyone had left. So much for 12.30 presentation time. Enjoyable event though. Gobi Pacing Lorraine and looking at the course. Not a good day for Lorraine. Nice course with some tough climbs. Nothing really went to plan but I think we still had an enjoyable run. Cannock & Stafford AC 33:14 34:47 50:00 58:32 45.70
Heavyweight Nice and local - but a bit too hilly for a PB course. *** Update: Was a bit warm & humid. Disapointed with time - but it is my best 'warm weather' race time. UKnetrunner 44:39 48:02 50:00 52:23 54.42
Lorraine Fingers crossed and with alittle help from my friends!!!!! Rach E No real predictions as it's hilly but I just want to enjoy this one. ***UPDATE*** Not sure who bet but I did say it wasn't a quick course! Despite my slow time I feel pleased with how I ran today. It was a very hilly course (I think one of the hilliest I've run) and a very hot day. Stayed with a group of guys from Newbury AC and ended up finishing 1st female (by five minutes!!) and 7th overall in quite a large field which is always good. I lost a bit of confidence on Wednesday at Yateley when I just died at 7km but I didn't today. I think this is because a) I paced it a little better b) a had a rest day yesterday and c) I was better nourished (thanks to Lorraine's birthday meal yesterday lunchtime!). The Newbury guys told me I run very strongly uphill (which I am beginning to believe - it's hard when you train with Gobi who dances up hills) BUT they got me on the downhills. I do need to run another sub-38 10k soon though! Nice to meet Abdou who ran a cracking race for only his second 10k!
