Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

For Enigma or any other Vitality users. I did a spin class this morning using my running Garmin (on ‘indoor’) with my HRM. It’s uploaded fine to Fetch, Vitality and Garmin and I have my Vitality points (for 30 min 70% workout). It’s worth knowing what HRM will trigger 70% (you need 30+ mins) or 60% (60+ mins) and remembering that Vitality don’t have any leeway for 29m59s!

So I changed my surname to have WBR (D) after it and still got lumped in with the Cat As. Blew out of my botty to hang on to 13th (out of 15). Am I missing something?

Anyone doing the Grand Fondo on Sunday? 90 odd miles, twice round the Pretzel*

*shorter options are available.

The initials after your name thing is quite odd, does not seem to do anything (and not needed for most rides as you get a ride jersey etc).

I've never done a race on Zwift.

Races are good, but picking your cat for the WBR ones, having discussed it on Facebook, seems impossible from the iPhone app.

In practice it makes bugger all difference. The w/kg put out varied so much across all the cats that I wouldn't have fared much different as a D than an A, and would have been flat last as a B.

I believe that the letters after your name were used historically so you (and race admins) could identify who was in a race when it all used to be based on strava segments. WBR just stands for World Bike Relief which is the organisation that hosts the event and it's good publicity for them.

However, since the race module has been introduced which will allocate jerseys and only show other people in the event in the timing table there is no longer any need for this although some races still ask you to do it. Not sure if you'd be disqualified if you didn't comply. It's just a pain having to change your name for each race in my opinion.

You should have the option to select your category when entering the event, usually based on Watts/kg. I personally don't like this way of doing things as I get penalised for being a light rider. If you enter a lower category and exceed the limits then when the results come out on ZwiftPower you'll either be disqualified or bumped up a category. If you're like me then you'll have come last too.

In all categories the Watts/kg can be all over the place and loads of people will have got their category wrong which is why ZwiftPower will modify the results.

The only other thing to be aware of when racing is the type of bike. Don't use a TT bike in a road race or vice versa, you'll probably be disqualified.

They're currently making a lot of changes on ZwiftPower, I think (don't quote me on this) they got sued. Something to do with data protection, someone accused someone else of cheating and people got upset. Toys were thrown in any case, virtual cycling got nasty, people blamed the introduction of prize money, etc. etc.

Also, as well as Zwift Power your race results can appear on cycligentrankings.com

Just did my first Zwift group run. Only 3 of us and we spread out quite quickly, but it's a good concept.
