Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

You've got to be thin to win?

Not read through all this but thought I would chip in with the fact that I'm 5'8" and weigh 61kg. That definitely makes me thin, but not too sure about this 'win' side of things! And strangely enough it seems I am suited to the shorter stuff - I thought 'sprinters' were usually muscle power houses!

When I was lucky enough to train with some serious athletes, many years ago, you could see the ones who were coming into form because they did look like they'd lost muscle mass particularly from arms and shoulders.

11 stone is light for a six footer, but it's not outlandish for a six foot distance runner and I don't think you should worry too much. I would be concerned about trying to get a lot of running in on a calorie restricted diet cos it can make you ill.
If the main objective is to get better as a runner then the important thing is having a well planned training schedule including tempo running and intervals.

Hey, I thought I was the short fat bastard!!
I weighed in at 79.2kgs yesterday and Im 5`8/9`
I can still shift a bit though - especially downhill

Personally, I have now come to the conclusion that its more to do with strength and training rather than bodyweight

Not too sure I have a definition for shorter in a general context, but just looking at my WAVA, as the distance goes up so the WAVA comes down, so I do better at a distance shorter than the next one on my list :-)

probably because you're not doing much mileage in training and have natural speed as shown by your 100/400m times slickster. I'm sure you could bring the longer races into line with more training.

so i spent the last 2 weeks on 1200cals a day, eating a veggie diet and absolutely NO crap at all. The only fats i had were olive oil and avocado. I trained hard (for me) 6 days a week, 2 sessions of each discipline and guess what??????????
Go on guess................

I gained 2.2lbs in weight :-(
