Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

H&W sound like they are doing an awful lot of ‘yes, but’. (I’m not criticising necessarily, I do this too. And not only with things to do with the dog. But it doesn’t help you move forward...)

If they are in their 80s, and presumably retired, why do they only have a limited time to walk the dog??

My thoughts exactly Mazlin......however, saying try taking a dog out who doesn't really want to go when it is pouring rain and half past six in the morning because she needs a walk before you leave for work would probably be unhelpful....... I suspect that they are extremely set in their ways and that their day may revolve around fixed things like 'cup of coffee at 11am' 'lunch at 1pm' 'watch a programme they like on TV at whatever time' and so on.......

Why the ruddy hell did they get a cockapoo if they have limited mobility and limited time to walk the dog. It's probably bored to death of going to the flippin' park. Ours gets at least 2 hours of walking each day and still has some energy to be a pain in the evening.

If they won’t go for you walking the dog for them, would they consider a professional dog walker?

Does my nut in when people say they ‘can't give her treats because she will get fat'. Just take the treats directly from her daily food allowance!

Sounds like you’ve got your work cut out in attempting to help out this couple BBL!

I had a go at some basic training with Lottie this morning - just sit and stay. Hopeless, she doesn't even get 'sit' properly. I had to keep pushing her bottom down and making her look up. She's over two years old for heaven's sake :-( 'Stay' was random to say the least. Flossie was happy, she did it all properly alongside Lottie and got the treats :-)

At least Lottie's lead walking has improved a fair bit in the last few weeks ;-)

Much better day today with Thor. Managed to get the cleaning done as he will now go to sleep in his bed without crying every time I put him down on the floor or stop paying him attention. Left the house for 10 minutes he was crying when I came in but seemed much less distressed than yesterday and no poo or wee on the floor 😊

Glad things are improving, pmb :)

I have been visited by Poppy this evening. We went for a walk and then she found George’s box of toys and destroyed at least 3 of them during the course of the evening.
She’s coming to stay for the whole weekend on Friday because her Mum and Dad are away for the weekend. I can’t wait!

It took Rory 4 months and instruction by 2 different trainers to learn 'sit'. I was about to take him to the vet to see if he had some kind of terrible anatomical problem. Turns out he was just being a bit dim.

He is driving me bonkers this evening. We have been to scent class. I have hand-fed him his dinner. I have given him a bone. He's spent the last 40 minutes running in circles up and down the stairs between the bedroom and living room windows and the back door and barking and crying like there's a whole herd of deer (pack of deer?) out there. JUST SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP.
