Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

There was something on TV about a place that had paper poo bags and a special bin that did magic re-cycling and powered a street light...

I think dog waste is generally incinerated and that is why they have different bins, because in Ipswich they are about to remove all the dog bins and dog waste will be able to go in the normal bins because all the waste will be incinerated from now on so they don't need 2 separate bins. I guess councils that don't incinerate all their waste will still need 2 lots of bins though

I didn’t know there were places where it doesn’t go in the general waste!

Nor did I! We have two sets of bins but about 2 years ago there was an announcement that bagged dog waste could go in normal bins. In East Devon that's the case too.

Today will be an interesting day for me and Wanda. I've agreed to meet a student who is doing a course in documentary making and is making a film exploring his fear of dogs which stems from a nasty incident he witnessed as a child.

He is coming to our training class (with permission) to film Wanda and talk to me about the perception of Staffies, the 'it's not the dog, it's the owner' attitude and to find out more about how a dog can become a 'Good Citizen.'

The film is only for his university course so we won't be starring on TV anywhere and in fact if I don't sign a release form it can't even go on YouTube I believe.

I've only encountered him through a Facebook appeal but his film sounds genuine - I gather he has already filmed a man who has a deaf Staffie which obviously is much harder to give commands to and people always used to assume it was some terrible out of control dog that wouldn't listen to anyone - now it wears a jacket with something like 'I am deaf' on it and he's the star of their local park.

I just hope that the very over excitable yappy dog that comes to our class is on his best behaviour today though......
