Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Oh poor Charlie!

If it's any comfort Alice, Daisy tore her cruciate ligament playing football with the boys when she was about 3. Our vet referred her to a specialist vet in Weston s Mare to see if he thought surgery was necessary. He decided it wasn't, and that with a period of only gentle exercise (no football :-() it would heal by itself. It did. He said that she might develop arthritis in that joint but when she died aged 15 she had no arthritis at all.

That's reassuring to hear LD, one of my first thoughts was to wonder if this might lead to arthritis.

That is reassuring from LD.

Charlie will be doing the doggie right thing by sleeping. Not like us: "Well I'll just 'test' this dodgy ankle. calf/ knee....."

Poor Charlie. Will he be allowed to have a snuffle mat to keep him amused while he can't go out for walks or would that still be too much for his leg?

You can make them with a mat with holes in and strips of fleece, and hide treats/kibble in them for the dog to find.
That probably isn't a great explanation.... Google will explain better I think!

I googled snufflemat as well... :-)

Poor Charlie. Something similar happened to Pico (my borrowed Sproker) when I was dog sitting last summer - she ended up having X-rays and an examination under anaesthetic but eventually it all settled down with only painkillers. Hopefully it'll be the same for him.

Rory's dog walker tripped and dropped his lead yesterday. It took her an hour and a half to get him back and she had to get her cousin to come down and help. Apparently he was chasing a deer (wtf kind of deer hangs out in a field/children's play area/ community 'green space' next to a housing estate??) Luckily he didn't catch it, because I'm embarrassed enough already...

Naughty Rory, I bet he was having a great time and will probably expect to be able to do that again......Welcome to the joys of dog ownership Maz!

Maybe worth checking your dog walker's insurance policy for all 'eventualities'?
