Do put your side forward though even if it sounds like excuses to you - if you don't engage they will only have whatever they have been told by the other lady to go on.

I went to see the family concerned and gave them our address and phone number and asked them to make sure they pass these details onto the police and that we volunteered them... I would hope that would also indicate that we are happy to engage with the police.... they haven't been in touch yet but I'll update when they do.
