Surprisingly the WTC didn’t swoop for it and then call it Ironman 70.3 Dengie Essex....

The idea was that I could easily and quickly swap out when/if an opportunity to get outside presented itself. It’s a psychological thing. It made me feel better all Winter to know that I wasn’t "strapped to the Turbot"; the reality was that I never changed the wheel until Spring. I’ve just bought a Wattbike.

Main reason is that carbon bike frames are designed to be strong in certain places, weak in others (to save weight). Anchoring the bike to a turbo increases the stresses, and changes where they occur. Frames can crack and fatigue. Other reasons as well - potential sweat corrosion, wear and tear but frame is the main one. eBay a bike for the turbo, save the carbon lovely for next Spring.
