The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free.
But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient.
Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead.
Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?
Looks like it will be easy to watch the elites bike and run in the city centre as they do a slightly different course with 7 bike laps and 5 run laps around the city centre. Elite women expected at about 13:45 and the elite men at 16:20.
I went to University in Leeds but I never drove in the city and I'll struggle to find my way walking around as so much of it has changed.
Yeah, I found a start list, 100+ in each wave setting off 4 minutes apart. I can't work out how they've sorted the waves out. It doesn't look like it's on predicted swim (can't remember what I would have put 28-30 mins I'd have thought) and it's not on age group/gender either.
If its not on predicted swim I stand a chance of catching 2 waves in front but also being swam over by the wave behind!
Yes that's the worry. Mixed ability waves, so not only that in the swim but the same on the bike as the faster bikers move through the crowded field. Did laugh as they carefully spelled out the drafting rules, 10m etc. No chance. It'll be way too busy.
Not sure what the gap between events is, but could we have the sprint lot also mixing with the later Oly waves, on bike/run even if not swim?
Oly's are all off first before us sprinter,s with the last Oly wave starting 08:44 and first Sprint at 09:08, so yes, potential for mixing on the swim and first parts of the bike.
Sprint ride is same as the Oly into the City centre then back out, but only as far as Headingly for the turn around.
BC, someone posted a vid of the bike route yesterday - thought it was on this thread but can't find it now
Crikey, assuming an average Sprint time around 1:15, and Oly around 2:45, average folk in the first sprint waves will be finishing around an hour before average folk in the last Oly wave. So later on it will be a fully mixed field of sprint and oly waves on both bike and run and the course will be heaving. Hope they label the bike turn points well and people can count/remember how many laps they have to do....
TRO - I'm well below average I'll be off in a later sprint wave, so only worried about the faster tiddlers catching me (which they will on all 3 sections).
