The Dragonfly works but that's only 18mm and on track. Probably more what I'd expect from a 5k flat though.

The other factor, for me, is that if I had one complaint about my VFs (and I do really like them) is that they are a bit too narrow. My feet were quite beaten up after a recent race, although that was the first time I had done a marathon in them. These Streakflys are a bit wider. That control test is very interesting, but it is just one test. I just want to try them really. Ben Parkes came to the conclusion that the VFs were better (nothing scientific there), but for me I still think there are so many other variables that go into having a good race or a bad race. I.E., you can wear the VFs and still have a bad race, for whatever reason. If they end up being a training shoe, that is fine. My ZF3, which I do like, are approaching the end of their life so if the SFs end up being a replacement for those, no problem. I was put off from trying the ZF4 due to the extra weight. |

"but for me I still think there are so many other variables that go into having a good race or a bad race. If you're lucky, the gap is close enough that fit and feel make a difference. My feeling is they aren't actually different enough as alluded to above, and previously with the statement that these are marathon shoes five years ago. Obviously I'm sympathetic to feel etc as I'm running in the Reebok Floatride Runfast Pro for road which goes the whole way down the light and minimal cushioning route. |

Does anyone have the link to the Streakfly compared to the Asics control shoe please? I could be tempted by the streakfly just due to the weight and relatively low price point but I'd appreciate a view of the article.

It's not an article just an economy test. instagram.com I note there hasn't been any Nike numbers around this shoe though. |

Gobi interesting that you prefer the AFs over the VFs.

Cheers SPR, not very encouraging but as I think you said earlier, I'd not put too much faith in a single person doing an experiment and running all 3 on the same day. His form may suit a shoe with more support. |

Agree that a mass study is better but the thing here is that you have lots of other single person tests he's done to compare it to. It's the fact it's so bad that's shocking. It would be interesting if there was a different non-responder/ responder profile for these than the VFs/ AFs as I think non-responder is the only possible explanation other than they are bad (the protocol has been tested a few times so can't imagine something went wrong there). |
