I'm hoping that sheer bloodymindedness will win out! Watch this space... I've woken with a stiff neck this morning which I'm blaming on my 'front-wheel-lifting' efforts!

It's hard to get used to using your legs rather than your upper body for control of the front wheel. It *will* get easier but is one of those things that needs regular practice.

It seems to be that time of year again when every bike ride outside needs to be followed up by a wash of the bike and the rider... it gets a little tiresome after a while, no...?

(note, the rider usually has a wash post-ride; in this case I am talking of *before* entering the house as well as after)

Yup stripping in the back airlock (boiler room) before entering the house. I have to remember to leave a towel or something to prevent teen from having to witness a streak to the bathroom.

Yup. Took the boy (8) and his friend off down some green lanes this afternoon. Then cleaned the bikes, the side of the house, the door, the wellies, the shoes, the clothes, him... and then me! Same again tomorrow except it's MTB skool for me and bunny hop mastery!

Absolutely
Gentle potter out this morning with the local gang. Most trails ridden opposite way to normal to avoid the worst of the mud.
I'm just washing transmission currently and leaving it at that for the next ride.

So, I know y'all are dying to know what Wk 3 of MTB Skilz skool involved... There was lots more lifting the front wheel but this time without loading the front suspension first, then we did 'track stops' where you hafta stop without putting your foot down, and THEN it was ALL about the drop-off (previously something that made me think of Finding Nemo). First of all we had to roll down them, then lifting the front wheel so it landed at the same time as the back one! Loved it today, AND even managed to hop my back wheel AT LEAST an inch. No skool next week, back on the 5th... plenty time to practice!

Awesome stuff, Megster. And all very useful stuff for trail riding. A friend and I differ in opinion about the usefulness of track standing. I find it an incredibly useful skill for just pausing on the trail and preparing yourself.
