Meanwhile, still waiting for Octopus to resolve my problem, every call is like groundhog day, we'll look at it, we'll email back. I never hear back again (or when I do, it tells me things that I already know and that are ineffective).

I never hear back again (or when I do, it tells me things that I already know and that are ineffective). What's not working Chris? I asked in last page? What app? Connecting what? I have GivEnergy inverter and Octopus tariff and works fine. If you tell me your particular issue (fmail me if you want) I'll tell you if I've experienced it and if I know anything. No guarantees of course! In addition to contacting Octopus, what about GivEnergy support? They can see your inverter online and can diagnose and even configure it remotely. uk-consumer-supportATgivenergy.co.uk ![]() |

Octopus app - the devices section, choose add battery select Givenergy, add in login details, say ok to give Octopus control over GivEnergy and it goes away for seconds and comes back with "We couldn't connect". The Solar guys at Octopus say they can see a specific error message that makes it their problem.

If you're not having joy with Octopus, then remembering the show that their CEO did with Martin Lewis on his R5 podcast, contacting them via social media can work. It's also worth dropping MSE an email as they collect these sorts of complaints and do a kind of "mass action" complaint using the advantage of their pulpit if it's a widespread CS issue. |

I've kept an X account purely for contacting Octopus - you seem to get faster more knowledgeable response that way.

I got an email back today which referenced my earlier email and issues and said that the team involved had not yet responded, and they will let me know when they do. When Octopus first set it all up, they disappeared for 3 weeks+ and then suddenly came back to say "it's all done" despite chasing phone calls in the meanwhile yielding nothing and being told to expect a progress email after just 4-5 days, so I suppose it could be similar. Be nice to have some confirmation though. I do have a separate group account for X so I will bear that in mind. |

If it is about DNO approval for export, that is often out of their control. Whoever your local grid network company is has to "approve" your export tariff being activated. But I don't know which bit of your set up you are having a problem with, because you haven't said! ![]() |

I’m afraid that seems a bit silly to me. Photovoltaics work, they are cheap and efficient. I suppose it’s interesting to play around with alternative technologies but the chances of that providing any useful amounts of power in my lifetime is slim indeed. |

I think it's an interesting idea, but it's obviously not going to be providing significant amount of energy any time soon. But yes, as a "low use" supply for places without connections to traditional infrastructure, I'd say it has a place.
