Perhaps put it in and see how you feel if called to interview Sam?
EB, it does sound like you could have grounds for a complaint if things don't improve sharpish, so make sure everything is documented.

Yes 1step2far the course we are on is new. I do really feel for the course leader as she is really good and I do believe she's working as hard as possible under very stressful circumstances. The course is now being changed to be NMC led and as such has had attend several large meetings. Its hard feeling so badly let down by people we actually like and respect. I'm sure they are under huge amounts of pressure and stress being understaffed and all the changes taking place. However we can't sit back and say nothing.
I'm still waiting for feedback from the original tutor so have decided to email my personal tutor as she's back on Monday. I found out today the date, time and tutors who will be assessing my presentation. One is my personal tutor the other is the one I'm still waiting for feedback from. Still issues with it though.... I told the tutor I needed to be on the same day as the person I travel to uni with and he said no problem write your names on this paper and I'll sort that out. Err nope we are on different days! Luckily someone has dropped out of the course and it was easy to transfer names over. It just really irks when you think someone was sorting it.

Got my feedback finally. Some of it is constructive other parts....... well some of the resources I've used have been criticised as they don't use certain measurements..... It is a national campaign I can't change what's on there. Maybe I'll add it notes and talk about it..... I do get the feeling from others too though that this tutor only feeds back only negative and gives nothing positive which isn't always helpful. Maybe there was no positive.... anyway at least I have something to work off now seeing as they are part of the marking process

That's something EB. It's perfectly valid to comment on the limitations of the measurements they're using, and suggest other options, and possibly explain why they're not using them.

Agree with G_g. And sometimes if the marker is under pressure the positive feedback slips, so perhaps assume that anything without negative feedback is good. I don't think it means there is no positive. I'm ploughing through 76 assessments at the moment... I'm trying to be positive about everyone.

when our college lecturers went on strike a few years ago, i was probably the only student who had any sympathy, rather than whinging about not knowing whether classes were on, etc. i did have some insight into the workload, and i don't envy any of the conditions or workload they were making a stand against (i've been close to it with my own work). why it is that professions that aim to help others seem to be the ones with the most unrealistic expectations?
that's me now just one exam and one assessment result (cross fingers) away from an honours. have to say i have found the OU a very positive experience overall, and have never been short of support. no chance i do this the convention brick-uni way at my age with all other commitments. it's been very hard, but worth the slog, and hopefully the scroll....

Well done Scorge. When I applied to OU, they did seem to have a good setup. I agree with LindsD that the positive stuff tends to slip when under pressure, especially if it's not in your nature. I have to consciously think "Have I written anything positive" when giving feedback, although I do try to make it at least constructive.

Scorge well done, you have the end goal in sight 😊 and I'm sure that scroll too 📜
Thanks G_g and Lindsd.
I'm definitely planning on talking about the measurements issue.
I think I struggle with feedback that doesn't say 'yes you're on the right track' and only says 'you haven't done or said x, y, z' by email because it's then difficult to 'discuss' it especially when emails aren't answered for days at a time or they aren't available for a meeting or telephone call (heavy workloads I totally get it)
I do also have to say that at 46 years old and first time studying since leaving secondary school I'm probably a bit harder going for the tutors than the 'normal' students they get so I do feel for them in that sense too.
I don't always interpret what they mean very well though and as a consequence can go off track a bit.
I've never recieved feedback from this tutor before and I think because the way it's done is so different to others has thrown me a bit too, all good though and part of the learning 🙂
Anyway I'm waddling through and my last exam for this first year is 6th June 😮. Where has the first year gone! I just said to my friend the other day I can't believe we are coming up to the end of the first year it seems like yesterday when we walked through the door for the first time
