Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I had my plague plan in place, I was going to head to the hills with my bivvy and basha, but here I am with a (mild) fever and a can of stilton and broccoli soup

Can you at least heat the soup by holding the can against your forehead?

I’ve been in a busy office today, used the gym whilst other users are there then had a wash in the gyms communal shower. I’m doing well so far.

the leccy's still on, so I can heat the soup. Might risk a trip to the coop in my biohazard suit

New continuous cough here. ✋

Also a wife and three kids of three and under in the house as well, so the practicalities are totally lost on me.

Is it simply a case that I don’t leave the house? Or do I head into the attic with a bucket and the complete works of Shakespeare for the week?

In theory the latter - separate room from everyone else at all times, don't share the bathroom if you can help it, or use it after everyone else has and then clean it thoroughly after yourself. Don't even put your laundry in the same basket.

How possible that is in real life...

I think the idea is too think.of the wider community...if you have it, it takes 5 to12 days to get noticed, so everyone else in your house probably has already.....so you are isolating a household rather than a person.

If you’re self isolating, can you for example go out for a walk on your own. There’s lots of open parkland nearby so it would be possible to walk for for half an hour without being in close contact with anyone

Well the official Public Health England advice is that you should not leave the house even for a walk;

why on earth can someone who lives by open fields and can stay well away from anyone else not go for a walk? - what happens if you live alone and have a dog that needs to go for a walk?
