Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

The club local to me certainly seem to have scrapped everything for this year. The only thing I can see going ahead would be the virtual Caithness Half as they did it last year (we accidentally gatecrashed it slightly with a runaway horse but that's a long story). And they have a nifty little trail series that I'd love to do (record and upload your run to strava type deal) but I'll not be fit enough to complete all the courses in time.

I don't think there's much point me joining the club this year. They aren't doing training either.

I’d be hopeful for the 21/22 Cross Country season.

An optimistic view, Mr Pain ;-) Maybe we should have a nice summer then batten down the hatches in Autumn again: only this year do it once cases are 3x, not wait until they are 12x.

As for how many constitute a mass gathering - depends. I'd say that 12 000 inside Hampden was one, even if that is quarter capacity. 1000 spread around say The Falkirk Stadium, not really. 400 on a race startline might feel like one: 800 definitely would be. Although whether we should be bothered about any of these circumstances is another question.

Sincere condolences to Rentboy (Chris Renton) whose wife Helen was tragically killed while out cycling near their home in Dumfries yesterday. Rents posted recently on FB. My heart goes out to him. Such a tragedy for him and their wee boy. :-( heartbreaking 💔

I just read that in the news and thought how terrible that another cyclist had been killed on the roads. How terrible. A shocking waste of life.

That's awful news. Dreadful. I've had the pleasure of running with Rents once a few years ago. Lovely guy, will keep him and his family in my thoughts.

That's awful news HappyG.

I agree Dvorak, getting outdoor events going over the summer and being more careful late in the year seems to be a reasonable combination of the 'normality' we crave with pragmatism.
