Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

That looks pretty interesting. Good to see photonics being taken seriously, people have often made light of it.

Spotlight is on it now. ;-) :-P

One of our mates worked in that area in the 80s. Shows how long it's taken to get to perfecting / prototyping the technology. Then it was optical electronics, but was always moving in this direction. :-) G

Joking apart though, true photonic computing though will be orders of magnitude faster, with lower energy consumption and no cooling / overheating problems, all import from a climate and resources point of view. :-) G

Got something to say?

I thought it would be cool to have a science thread. The idea being to share cool science that you've found out about. Or maybe to ask science questions that you don't know the answer to. Or science answers that you don't know the question to. It doesn't have to be highly complex stuff, it can just be everyday stuff that you can explain with science e.g. why do we get condensation on the inside of windows? But it can also be complex stuff. Or Youtube videos you've found ...
