![]() I found fruit smoothies to be a real help during my vegan years - also the fittest years of my life so far despite a lot of alcohol! |

Tell you what is a god send if you don't mind soya stuff but also love chocolate... Alpro Soya Chocolate Milk. I still drink it now. Quite a few of sainsburies veggie products are vegan - or they certainly used to be - things like the spicy bean burgers were great for pulses. |

Tesco's have expanded their free-from range to include more chilled products. If you buy soya milk, avoid the unsweetened: it's rank. I tend to use supermarket longlife as it's cheap. I find Alpro a bit sickly, but they all taste a little bit different, so it's really a case of trying stuff out and seeing what you prefer. I find that it often curdles in instant coffee but is more stable in cafetiere coffee, and use it frequently with a latte machine. Biscuits can also be a challenge (and I consider them an important part of life) - bargain ranges don't have butter in and plain hobnobs and lotus caramelised biscuits are fine. Jammie dodgers are usually OK. The only chocolate biscuits I've found that are dairy-free are dark-chocolate covered ricecakes and nairn's chocolate chip oatcakes. I have researched this thoroughly :-). If you're OK with egg, I suspect there's more choice (I'm vegan).

Glad this thread has been useful for you as well Deeks. I haven't been on Fetch much this year! Since my girlfriend got here (from her home in Mexico) it's been a case of get home from work, spend time with her, sleep etc but I have been trying to cut down on dairy as much as possible. I have had a few slips here and there but generally I feel like I'm a fair bit less mucousy - although it's not gone completely. Btw I have replaced chocolate with sweets! Some good tips above... next time I go shopping I will try and look at this for some ideas... |
