Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Hmm, really do not understand how this submitted my post when I was pushing only the Space bar (& this time on a desktop PC, so not a thick thumb problem). Something decidedly odd about the behaviour of the Comment screen)!

To quickly finish: ..., HR 129/146). Certainly a good workout. Not certain about my 80:20 easy:hard ratio though! Hopefully doing good rather than the opposite?

Next Saturday afternoon another XC race (Auckland Championships) so no hard parkrun in the morning. Or, more likely no parkrun at all. Supposedly a very muddy course this time 🙁. Not certain how I got talked into the XC Series but seem to be in the deep end now ...

@NZD well the HR doesn't show signs of stress so it must do you good :-)

Another xcountry !! Glutton you are. Definitely no parkrun or run the day before either to that you have some energy for the mud :-)

Very easy couple of miles - not cool at all despite the early hour

NZD: Ay you love the mud;-) No parkrun have a rest day before the mud.

TS I know it is so warm over night but glad you got some miles in.

Today was to be my 10k and at start time 29 degrees! even if I was fit and well no way I would run in this.

I ran another hour but over cycle track so a wee bit cooler.I am always slower running the track for some reason slow going out and faster coming back.
In cold tub after run but did not seem very cold to me!

Thanks for the feedback @Torque Steer and @Welshpoppy. I was mostly wondering about stress on leg muscles, or is the 80:20 more about cardio? I did start getting a few small twinges(?) in my R calf over the last couple of km yesterday but they remained stable. No apparent residual impact on this morning's easier base recovery run so I guess all OK; 10.4 km x 6:24, HR 120/128 (EG 56m). Chilly 8C but reasonably pleasant once the sun rose.

Last week 157 km. Unlikely to get up to that level this week. G'kids here early tomorrow morning (in lieu of Wed), then away for a 3-day break Wed-Sat am.

@Welshpoppy sensible decision to pull the plug on your 10k race. Far too hot for racing! Well done on managing the hour on the cycle track in the current heat.
Ditto your easy couple of miles @Torque Steer.

157km, @NZD?!?!

Hope that you are not rushing things, @Welshpoppy: I would be taking much longer to build back to an hour.

No run with M80 today so will probably keep my longer run until it is cooler later in the week.

Long time since I recorded 157 km as a weekly total :-)

@NZD you did the right thing - easy recovery run after yesterday's effort but still a good distance covered

@alehouse it's arrived here - cooler, but humidity still very high.

...in fact so high there was some mist/drizzle wisping about. Still restraine dmy self to a couple of miles of 1/3 min walk run with the run bits done at <10:00 m/m - HR 117/136.

Wordle in two - suspect @Solo will come along with a similar effort as I changed by starter again to one we have used before

Yes, @Torque Steer, a long time since I covered that much in a week either! And yes, very humid here for my run, but still mid 20s, although a welcome breeze.

43 minutes, 7km, so quicker than usual although I did find it a bit of a struggle towards the end, and was glad of a brief stop when I bumped into a soon to be 75 friend out for a rare run. He plays squash at least four times a week and usually only runs at parkrun. Usually runs around 24. HR ave was 119 although it felt higher most of the time...and Garmin tells me that I need 27 hours recovery...not that I will take much notice of that.

@alehouse it's when it says 72 hours rest that one starts to worry!

Decent outing today despite the stickiness.

Hope you saw the rather unusual finish to the Test match?!
