Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Talk Talk's "Spirit of Eden" and "Laughing Stock" are peerless, timeless wonderful records, the band that went before them was a completely different entity. New Grass from Laughing stock is one of my favourite songs of all time.

I'll take a listen. If it's half as good as The Eternal I'll eat my hat :)

It is very Miles Davis...

Whole loads of stories one about how they hired a whole choir, recorded a track so beautiful that the tea lady cried when she heard it, then they deleted the tape of it the next morning because it wasn't quite right! Mark Hollis became a recluse, recorded one solo piano based lp (also v good) then quit music altogether.

I have a 'punk hangover' about the search for muso perfection (possibly)

I'm onto 1989 now, and have just finished my first listen of Paul's Boutique by Beastie Boys. I'll give it another listen, but not sure it'll get many repeat plays. I've broadened my horizons, but it's not really my kind of thing!

Much preferred my 1990 choice - Ritual De Lo Habitual by Jane's Addiction. Off to try some My Bloody Valentine from 1991 now.
