twinkle - I thought the comments made to you were out of order and I would've been peeved if I was you. In fact I commented later that the thread needed renamed. I like this thread. Wanna lose about half stone maybe a little more but I have a busy life and can't fit in 50 hrs of training per week. Def need to up my exercise again tho and stop eating so much cr@p.

Frosty the SnowMatt
Ive had a really bad food day for some reason. I just cant stop eating. Im blaming the snow / cold / month / worms, anything except me. I've been saying Im going to do it for ages, so now I'm actually GOING to DO IT. Are we doing the same as the fatties group and weighing in, or is this just more of a support group?

Ah, thanks Elfpint.
After my marathon on Sundy (stupid weather permitting) I have no excuse for carb loading and eating lots. I am going to Germany however, and then it's Christmas meals. Eep. So, I think January is when I really sort myself out. I will however get back into the swing of exercising twice a day a few days a week before then.

I just struggle to find the time for the exercise. I'm a single parent, work part time and there never seem to be enough hours in the day. I suffer terribly from mothers guilt and asking family to babysit regularly so I can cycle/swim/gym (hopefully run again some day) make me feel bad, especially if I've been working all day. I sometimes swim at lunchtime but its a thought at this time of year. Cycle on my days off - weather permitting. I also have a rather embarassing Davina McCall DVD - I can do it from home and it doesn't interfere with home life too much. Biggest issue at moment is eating too much crap - feel a bit down = eat lots, winter = fatten up, christmas = food!!! Excuses excuses excuses. I need to start doing a food/exercise diary again cos if I have to write it down I don't wanna eat it

The Davina DVDs are excellent - I used them when I started to lose weight and they really got me back into feeling fit again. I know what you mean about time though - as it is I exercise generally 6 times a week. Two evenings I don't get home until 8.30 (running club and PT @ the gym). I have a high pressure full time job, and I'm married to someone who doesn't run. Not sure when I can fit too much more in really...I think maybe a couple of little lunchtime runs.
I use www.bootsdiets.com to record food and activity - really helps to focus the mind and it gives a vague idea of the calorie balance each day.

I use nutracheck or did - same idea I think. In fact some of the other diet websites actually use nutracheck so might be the same. Not done it for couple of months tho. I put too much pressure on myslef for 4/5 days a week then just go a bit mad!! I need to get that balance right. I think the closer you are to target weight the harder it is as wel. I'm 4'10 and about 8st 3 at the mo and only need to lose a little but can;t shift it at all

I am liking this and wondering what the rules will be? I might defect from Max's thread as I only have a stone to lose (let me rephrase that -- I only want to lose a stone!)
I think it needs to be focused rather than a general discussion. Flab Fighters is excellent for support for individual efforts but Max's thread had specific objectives. So can we all aim to lose a stone by a specific date -- say the end of January? And are we happy starting this at the beginning of December when, for many people, the "party" season is a recipe for overindulgence?
Personally I've spent 42 years overindulging seemingly every Christmas and am a bit fed up of it by now so am perfectly happy to rein things in a bit, especially with the spectre of marathon training looming (again) in the New Year.
hellen, what do you think? Can we create some common objectives and a common deadline?
