Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Unfortunately I cant really avoid these places, I've tried every route out and I'm surrounded. Bizarrely enough, once I get to the front I'm rarely attacked, as there are not so many nesting places.

Anyway, I'm now off to purchase a tennis racket, some chippy chips, some ice cream and a novelty hat. I'll let you know how I get on with my next run :D

How about one of those electrified tennis racquets that you use on houseflies. :-)

Added to the list, could mix and match with the Donnay racquet. Not sure what all this gear will do to my times

On a serious note, have you tried charging them?
Never had a problem with birds, but do have to deal with free roaming sheep dogs in the Greek hills.(basically wild) Two or three of them at a time can be intimidating if you don't handle them. You have to run AT them and shout, sometimes raising an arm to make like you are throwing a stone. In fact on occasion, I have thrown a warning shot.

You are higher than them in the food chain, and as much as you do not wish then actual harm, the threat often sees off most animals.

On a serious note... be kind to them. Herring Gulls are red listed now; numbers are declining fast.

Perhaps you could charge them for the cleaning, that might deter them.

I'm now imagining a hat with a cattle prod attached to it.
How do you charge a seagull anyway? They swoop down from the air!

You're more likely to be attacked by a swan in Worcester. Had one go for me on the towpath last year.

I'm carefully following all advice. Using stray pigeon feathers from the garden to make some feathers for my arms so i can charge them in the morning.

It would help if the youngsters weren't so dozy, wandering round aimlessly exploring the neighbourhood. Local scallies indeed.
