Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I'm gonna start the P&D 18 wk (55mpw) plan from 2nd June for the upcoming Amsterdam Mara in October.
The VO2 max runs will be 'interesting' as I don't really do fast stuff in my training much!

I should do them at 5km pace or a bit faster as per schedule. If i could get HR up to 85% i suspect i could knock chunks of 5km

Planning on one or two 5kms at the end of the month try to inflict as much pain on myself that i can run those intervals a little faster

Lums, I thought my pacing was bad, looks like you were all over the place with your walking here and there, get a grip old boy!!!!

How about trying some shorter intervals, say 400m then you shoudl beable to hold the pace to the end. When you know what pace you can do for 400m you can then just slow a bit for 800m and a bit more for the mile.

Did a PMP run yesterday, nearly didnt run which is so unlike me. Was so tierd but I knew I wouldnt beable to run today and tommorrow is the day before my mile race so dont want to run so if I didnt go thur then that woudl be 3 days no running and we cant have that.

Anyway, cos I had a long drive last night and was feeling tierd I decided that a run is prob just what I needed so set off thinking if it is rubbish I can always turn back. Original plan was 7-8miles but when I set off decided 4 would be my max and I would try to do them at MP. I am not very good at juding pace (a bit like lums) but at least I keep going!!!!! PMP is 9.30, the run was 9.21, HR 162 which is around 78%. It was the same route as a run I did 2 weeks before FLM but my pace was a little faster yesterday for the same HR so am happy with that.

Everything you need to know about training with a heart rate monitor. Remember the motto "I can maintain a fast pace over the race distance because I am an Endurance God". Mind the trap door....

Gobi lurks here, but for his advice you must first speak his name. Ask and you shall receive.

A quote:

"The area between the top of the aerobic threshold and anaerobic threshold is somewhat of a no mans land of fitness. It is a mix of aerobic and anaerobic states. For the amount of effort the athlete puts forth, not a whole lot of fitness is produced. It does not train the aerobic or anaerobic energy system to a high degree. This area does have its place in training; it is just not in base season. Unfortunately this area is where I find a lot of athletes spending the majority of their seasons, which retards aerobic development. The athletes heart rate shoots up to this zone with little power or speed being produced when it gets there." Matt Russ, US International Coach
