Run 1 half the dist of Run 2
Run 1 1mi off road Run 2 2mi off road
Run 2 18sec/mi faster
Run 1 I was chatting on the way around.
Run 2 I loved because it just happened as it did.

Run 1 - Friday
Distance: 4.42m
Time taken: 00:38:59
Average/Max Speed : 6.80mph / 7.95mph
Average/Min Pace : 00:08:49 / 00:07:32
Average/Max heart rate: 140/158
Calories used: 623

Run 2
Distance: 9.10m
Time taken: 01:17:32
Average/Max Speed : 7.04mph / 8.14mph
Average/Min Pace : 00:08:31 / 00:07:22

Got my long run in yesterday, a12 miler. loveley cool still and sunny day. Heart rate took a mile to go down, funny why that happens but throws the numbers out a tad. Just about managed it at 70% which I was pleased with as there are 3 big hills which take me over a bit. Averaged 9 min mile pace so a good benchmark.

Due for the long run with Mrs MM today but saw sense and gave it a miss. I can do cold, wind or rain but all three tested our resolve too far. Even got as far as getting kitted up and still bottled it. Better to load up some logs and hunt out a bottle or red wine me thinks :o)))

i decided that "watching" the Christmas Puds cook was a better idea than a run today too ... 'twas raining when I got up at 7:15 and is still raining now.
and as if to comfirm that it was a good idea my body seems to be finally giving in to the lurking lury that has been lurking in the background for a few weeks now

I had 14 or 15 miles planned but whimped out at 11.5. It was raining the whole time. Was soaked, called at home at 8miles for food and changed my gloves which were soaking but knew if I changed the rest of my kit I wouldnt get abck out there. Dry gloves helped a bit but I soon got cold again so gave up early.

Who else whimps out early when the weather is pants?

I don't call 11.5 early Hellen. I am sure that your body benefited from the distance. :)

I don't think I would have made it back out after I was back in the warm house - well done!

Everything you need to know about training with a heart rate monitor. Remember the motto "I can maintain a fast pace over the race distance because I am an Endurance God". Mind the trap door....

Gobi lurks here, but for his advice you must first speak his name. Ask and you shall receive.

A quote:

"The area between the top of the aerobic threshold and anaerobic threshold is somewhat of a no mans land of fitness. It is a mix of aerobic and anaerobic states. For the amount of effort the athlete puts forth, not a whole lot of fitness is produced. It does not train the aerobic or anaerobic energy system to a high degree. This area does have its place in training; it is just not in base season. Unfortunately this area is where I find a lot of athletes spending the majority of their seasons, which retards aerobic development. The athletes heart rate shoots up to this zone with little power or speed being produced when it gets there." Matt Russ, US International Coach
