Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Club speed session was intervals not a tempo run, BUT i did keep the warm up 1.4 miles slow and avg hr for it was 148 :-) ...then I ran really fast :-)

LSR tomorrow of 19+ miles *gulp* and I'll keep hr below 70% somehow.

Looks reasonable to me. Slight drift in splits but not too bad.

Good to see warm up / cool down.

Walking or even stopping in the rests is not a porblem while you get into doing intervals.

making sure you put in even amounts of effort and finish the session feeling like you have worked hard is the most important.

Well done! :-)

Managed the whole run today under 70% with my HR average being 67% with not much of a drop in pace from when I was doing the LSR at 72-76%, so it worked :-) Felt incredibly strong from 13-17 miles and really enjoyed the run. Keeping the effort lower definitely ensured I had plenty energy for the whole run and didn't tire at the end. Only down side was that the run was very hilly, so naturally was hard and my legs ache abit tonight.
Anyway, first LSR success, so very happy.

Well done Siouxsie.

7m for me tonight. Managed 69% but much slower than last week - 9:36 pace. Not bothered - drank at lunch and tonight - so no surpsises. Felt easy hough, barely broke a sweat and enjoyed it.

Good run Siouxie :)
Lums, the "and enjoyed it" is the most important bit of that :)

Everything you need to know about training with a heart rate monitor. Remember the motto "I can maintain a fast pace over the race distance because I am an Endurance God". Mind the trap door....

Gobi lurks here, but for his advice you must first speak his name. Ask and you shall receive.

A quote:

"The area between the top of the aerobic threshold and anaerobic threshold is somewhat of a no mans land of fitness. It is a mix of aerobic and anaerobic states. For the amount of effort the athlete puts forth, not a whole lot of fitness is produced. It does not train the aerobic or anaerobic energy system to a high degree. This area does have its place in training; it is just not in base season. Unfortunately this area is where I find a lot of athletes spending the majority of their seasons, which retards aerobic development. The athletes heart rate shoots up to this zone with little power or speed being produced when it gets there." Matt Russ, US International Coach
