There are a few in the cupboard as I type. Steak and Kidney, steak and ale, mmmm. gorgeous They are magnificent with chips from the local chippy with too much salt and oodles of vinegar on the chips that Mer DB collects on her way home after the occasional late finish There must be petits pois served as well! Such a contrast. |

I semi-regularly had the steak and kidney ones as a kid, and always considered them a bit of a treat. Being a veggie now, obviously not had one for years, but I saw that there was a (Vegetarian Society approved) cheese and onion one, and only a quid! So … My verdict: so-so. Not terrible, but I wouldn't rush for another. Might be worth keeping one in the cupboard as emergency rations. |

I'm sure they're all kidney free apart from the ones that have kidney as a headline ingredient and if someone unpackaged one and served it to me out of the can I'd be perfectly happy to eat it. Unfortunately, my limbic system isn't capable of discriminating.

well I need to go have one now.... must be a week for pies in general. I had 2 at the match last saturday. (in my defence, it's the only ground I have a football pie, and haven't been there for 2 seasons since we got promoted, and they didn't, and now they have) (am i waffling....?! It's the guilt m'lud) Rich, crispy pancakes, never as good done in the oven or grill.... one can only assume that our parents friend them in a frying pan back in the day. |

Twa pies at the fitba! Sauce on top? Since Maz has brought up the Scotch pie, my mother is a fan and (a bit niche) I found her a new favourite after Dunfermline parkrun, Stephens (who have an excellent url) steakbridie.com Luckily they have a more local outpost, near Stirling parkrun. If you are around Falkirk instead, try Marshall's the Bakers. |

Is a Scotch pie that abomination that's full of macaroni? Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my scottish food plenty, but pasta in a pie?
