Some of the photos of the rallies on the CAMC Facebook group have done nothing to encourage me to engage with these events. Everyone looks thoroughly miserable! |

I am thinking of taking my mam out aurora hunting tonight in the van - apparently there is a good chance of seeing them but even if we don't find any its a trip out and an adventure anyway. I have been seriously questioning myself at buying the van as we've had 1 night out in it and 1 failed night out. We are taking it to the boat next weekend (without the dog) I think we just need to stop being so busy and get used to taking it away for the night. |

this is what we're working out and finding different clubs and groups do things differently. Being able to use the cheap parking - some with facilities and do our own thing is what we want - enforced socialising not so much. think there is more of the former in the summer and the latter in the winter, we'll see. |

It’s also autumn heading towards winter… you might find you get more use out of it in spring / summer.

I am hoping so Cath, we have such a whirlwind of a life with the boat and then catching up with people the weekends we are home it doesnt leave a lot of time to just disappear for the night. I may well suggest we do so this weekend. I will definitely get the use out of it for running weekends and the WHW is looking like we will take the van and taxi back/forth to move campsites. I haven't joined any clubs so far thinking that we won't get much use out of them but will look again in spring, definitely seems a good way to take opportunity of cheaper nights away. |

My friend is a lone van owner and she has been to some of the meet-ups. She has made some good contacts - couples and other women on their own. It means she can arrange to meet up in more remote places and socialise + keep each other safe.

Seems complicated. I’d be tempted to drive to FW, get the train or bus back to Glasgow then walk to the van. Booking whatever accommodation required. |

There's a car park in FW where you can leave the van for a reasonable daily charge with no maximum stay. We did that when we walked the Great Glen Way, topping up the charge by phone. The parking wardens took our phone number and said they'd keep an eye on the van while we were away. Just remember to keep within the lines.

It was more to reduce the cost of accommodation as it’s eye watering in places.
