We’re thinking VW equivalent as we can’t afford an actual VW that isn’t ancient and done a zillion miles. Any advice, makes to avoid, must-have features? Should we hire one first to see how we like it?

A lot depends on how you use it and how fit/flexible you are. Me and Mr S do cook in our VW, and have worked out a system that works for us not to get in each other’s way. We don’t tend to use things like the awning or outdoor dining much. We also like to sleep in the pop top if it’s not windy or raining, but can already sense that clambering up and down to it won’t always be comfortable! We have a ladder now. Mr S has taken it away solo for some photography trips and always remarks how much easier it is on his own!

Made it to an old favourite spit as the gates opened at 7am. Recommend cartgate for a free parking spot and the A303 is a very different and pleasant drive at midnight/4am
