Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

early hawthorn leaves out already on a couple of bushes! But....it was chillier this morning so maybe some kind of winter might happen! Birdwise...al pretty quiet along the trails where I ran.

New year parkrun this morning at Antrim. Dozens of cormorants on Lough Neagh. Also 10 swans sitting outside the cafe for post parkrun scones:-)
One cheeky squirrel completed the roster!
Happy new year!

Cold and frosty all day today. Saw a couple of redshank, a couple of turnstone and lots of oyks at the seaside today. Plenty of cormorants, a kestrel and a seal! Very, very windy; the turnstone were battling.

cormorants also - 4 flying in formation to terrorise the fishes (and annoy the anglers) on Blagdon lake / Chew valley lake this morning. looked for all the world like a squadron of fighter jets.

does anyone know if foxes routinely take adult swans?

I don't have personal experience but I would think it very unlikely that a fox would take a swan unless it were injured already. I've seen a fox struggle with a big chicken and they don't fight back. What have you found D?
